Who I Am

Hi, I’m Sunila [Soo-NEE-la]. I also go by Sue. I’m a freelance writer, editor, and instructional designer based in the Chicagoland area. I specialize in academic curriculum development and online course design in various LMSs and CMSs, and I provide editorial support for a wide range of content and formats. My background includes lesson and assessment development for distance learning (both print and online materials) and online instruction.

When I’m away from my computer, you’ll find me sitting by a river or lake, hiking a trail, wandering through a museum, or listening to a live band with my family and friends. My nonfiction book club is another one of my happy places, where I love to deep-dive into complex topics of religion, spirituality, science, politics, and history. On my comfy couch, I’m usually lost in a mystery novel or watching late-night comedy shows. Add in a scifi or horror movie and I’m set for the night.

I’m a classic introvert: I spend a good deal of time writing, reading, introspecting, listening to podcasts, and journaling. But among my favorite life moments are the ones in which I’m snort-laughing my head off with good company or having thought-provoking discussions with them.

And, of course, I’m a lifelong learner of anything interesting!
